ADVANCED DOUBLE KNITTING: For the Master Adventurer

Do you love the warmth, squishiness, and simplicity of double knitting, but wish you could do more with it?
Leave pot holders behind and go on an exciting new quest of double knit opportunities! Join Megan-Anne of
Lattes & Llamas, an expert in the craft of double knitting, in a fast paced class for double knitters that
are ready to kick things up to the next level. In this class we will explore how to work increases,
decreases, working in the round, and extreme double knitting in the round. Extreme double knitting is the
process of adapting a color chart to read identically on both sides of your work. This is ideal for color work
that incorporates letters or numbers. Advanced double knitting techniques require a firm foundation in
double-knititng basics, and prior to class you should be comfortable with casting on, casting off, double
knitting, and following a color chart in double knitting. During this class you will use the techniques we learn
to begin a double knit earflap hat. The pattern will be provided. You will be customizing the color work
during the class.
Required materials: US7 16" circular needles for working your hat in the round. If desired, you can sub the
16" for 40" and work in magic loop. 2 US 6 or smaller DPNs -or- stitch holders (the DPNs will only be used
to hold some stitches for later when making the earflaps on the hat). Graph paper and a pencil. 2 balls of
sharply contrasting Lattes & Llamas worsted weight yarn. Do not choose similar colors, you want your color
work to pop. The pattern for the hat will be provided at the class.
Dates: Saturday, June 9; 1-4 pm
Cost: $45 (includes 2 skeins of Lattes & Llamas worsted weight yarn)
